61. Need a tutor? Sophia Parsa is disrupting the tutor industry with Toot App
In the previous episode, Ian Balina shared how he disrupted the free-lance industry forever...
Sophia Parsa is Fluent in French, Farsi, English, and conversational Spanish. A fiercely loyal and uncharacteristically humble person, Sophia’s goal is to live a life well-balanced between work, friends, family and health. She is the CEO and Co-Founder of Toot, a mobile app that pairs tutors, referred to as “tooters,” with students or “tooties.”
During the first steps of toot-app development, I was working with a part-time freelancer, and it took six months to realize that we were not moving in the right direction. Luckily, my business partner showed up, and helped me complete the same project in 2 weeks. From that moment on, everything started running very smoothly.
Seeing my struggles the night before for my finance final, my professor advised me to ask a student for help. Within four hours he helped me to clarify some points in the research topic, and then he charged me for his work. The talented student told me that he was earning his living by tutoring younger students. Then, I realized that – if there was a suitable platform, hundreds of talented people would offer their knowledge and expertise for pay . That was the lightbulb moment that sparked the idea about toot-app.
